South Coast Leisure Times : Autumn 2017
www.southcoastleisuretimes.com.au South Coast 51 Batemans Bay and Surrounds With stunning views of the Clyde River winding under its bridge and with a backdrop of national and state parks, Batemans Bay is the northern gateway to Eurobodalla. The spectacular views and great shopping facilities make it the ideal base for day trips to the surrounding Eurobodalla townships of Nelligen, Mogo, Moruya, Bodalla, Narooma and Tilba. From Bateman’s Bay it is easy to explore the many beaches around the coast through Batehaven, Surf Beach and Tomakin back to the historic shopping centre of Mogo. Make sure you give yourself a few hours to take in the picturesque locations of Mossy Point and Broulee. Eurobodalla is also renowned for its fishing and oysters. You can buy your oysters straight from the farm. Just south of the bay you will find the award winning Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens. The gardens have all the facilities for a healthy day out. If you are looking for family fun head north and check out Timbertops Horse Riding in nearby Bawley Point, which is a great school holidays activity or for indoor amusement, the Tabourie Museum. Festival the talk of Tilba Get ready everyone, the countdown is on for this year’s Tilba Easter Festival on Easter Saturday, April 15. It’s a unique festival, with entertainment and activities to suit all tastes, including town criers, street games, live music, roaming street performers and a producer’s hall. This all happens in the magical setting of Central Tilba’s main street. A modest donation ($10-adults, free entry for kids 2-16) covers all the entertainment, all day long. There will be a 14 piece Brazillian drumming band performance, buskers, street theatre and a continuous reptile awareness show. There will be jumping castles, airbrush tattoos and face painting. There will also be cooking demonstrations by River Cottage and other local culinary heroes. Discover the bay’s beauty A couple take in the view at Batemans Bay.
