24 South Coast www.southcoastleisuretimes.com.au Nowra and surrounds Arts and culture aficionados in the Shoalhaven will have plenty on their plate throughout autumn. The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre is a state-of-the-art venue in the centre of Nowra, close to the beautiful Shoalhaven River. The entertainment centre has a number of stellar shows lined up, including Elvis An American Trilogy on March 15, country icon John Williamson on March 17, a tribute to Roy Orbison on March 18, the Everley Brothers and Buddy Holly tribute on April 8, Lee Kernaghan on May 6 and much more. Meanwhile the Shoalhaven City Arts Centre and Regional Gallery will once again celebrate the achievements of HSC visual arts students in the annual Bow WOW exhibition opening on March 25. Students from high schools across the Shoalhaven will have their work displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition aims to promote the work of HSC Visual Art students and acknowledge the high level of artistic excellence achieved by students of the Shoalhaven. In 2017 the exhibition will also feature works from students who graduated in 2015, and whose works have recently been returned to the area following ArtExpress tours. Bow WOW opens at 12pm on March 25 at Shoalhaven City Arts Centre and Regional Gallery. Entry is free and the exhibition will be on display until April 15. Join Bird Life Australia, Southern Bass Club, South East Land Services and more at Bundanon this autumn for a Field Day on Sunday, April 9 from 10.30am-4pm. Listen to talks from experts in natural resource management, conservation and ecology – including botanist Kevin Mills – chair of the National Parks & Wildlife Services South Coast Regional Advisory Committee. Participate in art workshops with Bundanon Trust educators, walk the Treelines Track, take a guided orchid tour with Alan Stephenson or enjoy coffee and catering by Duck Duck Goose and Hyper Hyper Coffee. There will be plenty of activities for children, as well as Gary Warner’s installation ‘soundtracker’, located inside the Single Man’s Hut. Gary Warner’s ‘soundtracker’ is an evocative multichannel sonic experience of over 200 field recordings in a subdued light installation. The sounds are selected from the artist’s personal field recording library created over almost four decades, in a wide variety of locations and contexts - including recordings made in and around Bundanon. Unearth local talent Bush discovery day Shoalhaven Unearthed is an open mic night for local performers in April at Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre. Visitors can explore the grounds of Bundanon at the upcoming Field Day.
