The Roo Theatre Company, a community based non-profit organisation in Shellharbour, will offer a number of great theatre shows over the season. Having produced many highly-acclaimed productions - everything from musical blockbusters to classics, comedies and originals - the Roo Theatre provides some of the best performance art the South Coast has to offer. The museum aims to preserve and present the community’s experience, so there can be understanding of the city’s cultural and environmental heritage. Exhibitions of Aboriginal and European culture change regularly and the museum’s collection includes artefacts, photographs, oral histories, maps, lithographs and historic documents that relate to Shellharbour City and its people. If you are looking for something to put some zap into your day, drop into C1 Speed Indoor Karting. The first ride takes about 30 minutes, it’s five minutes to get a Kart licence, five minutes to suit up and then it’s off for the ride of your life. It features more than 400 metres of straights, chicanes and curves in a structure that allows karters to experience the thrill of driving on the track. Theatre, history and more Say hello to Shellharbour Shellharbour Village by the sea is a popular day out destination to eat, shop and explore. Still retaining its village charm, there is plenty to do. Children love the playground and parklands down by the harbour. The picturesque sea pool is the ideal spot for a dip. The village is also home to a variety of fashion boutiques, cafes, restaurants and the award-winning Ocean Beach Hotel. Shellharbour City Council has launched an app called Tread Shellharbour. It provides guided tours of more than 50 historic places across Shellharbour City and is available through iTunes and Android. Images, written stories as well as some audio recorded stories form part of the four separate tours of Shellharbour Village, Albion Park, Lake Illawarra, and Killalea State Park. To make use of the Tread App there are some excellent walkways around the foreshores to the beach and Bass Point Reserve. Shellharbour and its surrounds are great places to explore with family and friends. Attractions like scuba diving, bike hire, helicopter rides, tenpin, biplane adventures and the railway museum are fun for all the family.
