This year’s installment will feature close to 100 individual events: over 40 art exhibitions, house concerts, prizes, performances, author luncheons, workshops, films, digital installations, pop up events and so much more. The festival officially kicks off at 5.30pm on Saturday, September 24 at Ulladulla Harbour with Harbour Beats - a rhythmic and entrancing launch to the 2016 program featuring local schools and other groups. Harbour Beats is directly followed by a music concert under the stars with the captivating sounds of young local band Quite Like Pete. Another of the highlights will include KIDSfest at ARTfest, a two day event dedicated entirely to promoting and showcasing creativity in children with loads of family fun and a fabulous range of kids workshops. Also on the menu is the ever-popular Milton Gallery Walk (see page 38) a night or art, music and food including 15 galleries in Milton. The Gaia Lantern Festival will take place in the second week in conjunction with the Gaia Farmers Market - and will feature the spectacular Community Lantern Procession (see page 42). ARTfest is all about participation and festival-goers have plenty of opportunities to get in on the action with over $20,000 in prizes up for grabs across the various prizes on offer.
