South Coast Leisure Times : Spring 2016
34 South Coast www.southcoastleisuretimes.com.au Bendalong is real holidays - the moment you arrive and get out of your car you will feel it. Take in the fresh, clean sea air filtered through the surrounding native fauna, the sounds of the sea and chattering birds. Once settled there is no need to use your car at all. An easy 10 minute stroll takes you to the local general/liquor store with everything you will need and there’s an alfresco cafe. A stay in Bendalong is perfect for a recharge. Local fishermen at the boat ramp will direct you to the best spots. The boat harbour is also the ideal launch for water skiing and barbecue areas mean you can enjoy a meal by the water. Keep your eyes open for a pod of dolphins or sit and watch stingrays feed from the fishermen’s catch. Washerwomans Beach is a sheltered spot. The northern end is ideal for families, with a safe place for young children to swim and play with barbecue facilities. This spot is also a snorkeller’s delight, with beautiful reef areas to explore. Walkers will revel in a stroll around the picture-perfect shores of North Bendalong, Dee’s, Flatrock and Monument beaches. Surfers should head to Inyadda Beach on the southern side of Bendalong. There is also great snorkelling near the cave on the north eastern end of Inyadda. From here visitors can take a short walk along the beach to Manyana or a drive to Cunjarong Point, to renowned swell at Green Island. Just a 10 minute drive off the Princes Highway takes you to the spectacular Lake Conjola, where there are lakeside picnic barbecue areas and lots of kangaroos. Mingle with the locals at the Lake Conjola Bowling Club, it’s a friendly community club. Take the family along, play a game of barefoot bowls and have some fun. Our Park’s cabins with ocean views, and shady campsites are the ideal place to relax on a short coastal break or enjoy a traditional family holiday. With access to Inyadda surf beach and the calmer waters of Washerwomans and Boat Harbour beaches, everyone will enjoy fun in the water. In those quieter moments, kick back and enjoy the company of the resident wildlife including kookaburras, rosellas and kangaroos, as well as the famous stingrays that visit the boat ramp.
