South Coast Leisure Times : Autum 2016
36 South Coast www.southcoastleisuretimes.com.au Milton The Milton Theatre has been a key part of the community since it started life as the Milton School of Arts, built in 1927. It was a picture theatre from 1929 while also hosting dances and other community events and activities. From 1976 to 1993 the theatre was privately run as a movie theatre until it was closed for extensive renovations, which were carried out in 1997, ensuring the venue had the latest sound and lighting equipment, a great ambience and excellent acoustics, making it suitable for live performances, plays, opera and dance. Since then the community has taken charge of the intimate 212-seat historic theatre through a community based management committee under Shoalhaven City Council. The building is now used for live theatre, a recording studio and for community performances, while many of the nation’s best performers speak often about how much they love performing at the Milton Theatre because of its acoustics and atmosphere. Wednesday, March 23, 8pm Hein Cooper Celebrating the release of The Art Of Escape, Hein Cooper returns to his home town of Milton for a special launch with full band at Milton Theatre. Friday, April 9 at 8pm Emma Pask The greatest gift to Australian jazz vocals in the last decade is how James Morrison, Australia’s most awarded jazzman, describes Emma Pask. While Emma’s voice and style are unique, and individually her own, her performances are reminiscent of the classic era of jazz, when swing was top of the char ts. Sunday, April 24 Wes Carr Here Comes the Sun, a journey through the songs of George Harrison will showcase much loved Australian singer songwriter Wes Carr interpreting Harrison’s songbook. On Sunday, April 24 at 8pm he will take on chart-topping classics such as My Sweet Lord, What is Life and The Beatles classic, Something. Ask two tea drinkers how to make the perfect cup and you’re guaranteed to get two very different answers. Steeping time, water temperature, and in the case of black tea, the milk/water/sugar order-conundrum are just some of the variables involved in making a good cuppa. Not to mention the tea bag versus loose leaf debate. So is there actually a right way to make a cup of tea? A teaspoon per cup or a tablespoon of tea per mug is suggested. Boiling water is not always best. For white, green and oolong tea it is better not to let the water boil. For black tea, let the water boil and rest for a minute. Milk and sugar is really down to personal preference, but around 10ml of milk is usual. Refined white sugar is usually best for tea. Live acts in an intimate atmosphere Brew the perfect cup Hein Cooper will debut his new album in his home town in March.
