South Coast Leisure Times : Autum 2016
26 South Coast www.southcoastleisuretimes.com.au Currarong has long been regarded as one of the jewels of the Shoalhaven area, a small coastal village north of Jervis Bay, surrounded by marine national park and the beautiful Beecroft Peninsula. This unique environment has thrilled visitors and inspired artists for many years. The biannual Currarong Easter Art Show, organised by the Currarong Progress Association, complements numerous other cultural and artistic events in the region. The art show, named Beecroft and Beyond, will open on Thursday, March 24 from 5-8pm. The show will run from March 25-28, 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm at the Currarong Progress Hall on Walton Way in Currarong. Admission is free and all works are for sale. A raffle will be drawn on March 28 at 11am, with the prize an original artwork by local artist Robyn Gibson. Workshops are also available on a variety of techniques. The drive out to the coast from Nowra winds through spectacular rich green farmlands with classic Australian farmhouses, barns and hay sheds. You might even have to wait while a herd of contented cows wander across the road on their way to the milking sheds. The children love it. It’s about 20 minutes to the coastal villages of Greenwell Point, Culburra Beach, Callala Bay and Beach, Currarong and Point Perpendicular.
