The Milton-Ulladulla district was observed by Captain James Cook in 1770 when he was sailing along the east coast of Australia before landing at Botany Bay. Cook took note of Pigeon House Mountain. After being issued a land grant in 1827, the Reverend Thomas Kendall was the first European settler to the area. Kendall founded an estate known as Kendall Dale. Along with his pastoral duties, Kendall began cutting red cedar found in abundance near Narrawallee Creek. Poet Henry Kendall, the grandson of Thomas was born at the property near Milton in 1839. Further land grants in the 1830s led to a survey identifying a town site in 1837 at Boat Harbour, now known as Ulladulla. The Milton Ulladulla district prospered through the 1840s on the back of the timber industry with wood shipped from Ulladulla by the boat load. Today you can still wander the foreshore of a working harbour. The Ulladulla Lighthouse. The Ulladulla Harbour offers stunning views. Top shopping haven Ulladulla not only boasts a picturesque harbour, but a fantastic selection of shopping choices from boutiques to department stores and interesting arcades and centres. The Pavilion Shopping Centre houses specialty stores, cafes and restaurants. A must see is Sachi Boutiques and Gifts, a gorgeous shop that stocks all the latest summer fashion brands and accessories. Healing Hearts is the place for crystal and natural healing enthusiasts with raw crystals, polished stone pieces, jewellery and more. Healing Hear ts also runs workshops.
